Something New Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Buttons1

One of the stamp sets new to my stash is Mama Elephant’s Confetti set. I love the greetings in this one, and thought I’d combine it with some die cut buttons from a My Favorite Things die to make a simple card. I often don’t know how to best use really graphic patterned paper, but love how this diagonal stripe makes a striking border for the white panel. And doesn’t the Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade twine look cute on the buttons :).

I’m entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog competition for this week.

Make It Monday #146: Angled Backgrounds

Angled1

I really enjoyed Ashley’s video here demonstrating angled backgrounds. I decided to make my own stamped patterned strips for a few of the angled layers. Plaid backgrounds are so much fun to create and I used Papertrey Ink’s Super Stripes set to do the plaid and striped layers you can see in the card. I also used the sun and falling snow stamps from City Scenes to create other strips. The photo below shows them a little better.

I white heat-embossed the sentiment on the label to help make it stand out a little more against such a heavily patterned background. Sorry for the quality of the shots – I’m still experimenting with our new camera!
