Paper Smooches Sparks Inspiration Photo Challenge

I loved the photo below from the current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge and was definitely inspired to play along. The super-versatile Paper Smooches Frames 1 die is the main focus, and I filled it with floral images from PS Botanicals 1, coloured directly using Stampin Up markers. I also used a marker to highlight the stitched edging on the frame. The background was stamped using Stampin Up’s large Hardwood background stamp in Hero Arts Charcoal ink.

I managed to sneak in a bit of card making tonight while dinner was on the stove ;). This adorable dinosaur image is from the Paper Smooches set Little Fella. I coloured him quickly with Copics, cut him out and placed him on a tag which I decorated with two yellow bands of Crushed Curry card stock. I stamped the pair of stars from the same Little Fella set in the middle and heat embossed the sentiment in white on the black matt layer. I’m entering this card in the Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog Anything Goes challenge.

Bookmark Fun with Paper Smooches

DoggyBookmark

My young sons have both recently started picking up books and reading for pleasure – woo hoo! My hubby and I are both keen readers so it’s great to see the kids enjoying some quiet reading time each day too. At the moment my seven year old is enjoying a time traveller series, while the six year old is whipping through the Zac Powers spy stories. Anyway since they are now in the market for bookmarks I was very excited about the Paper Smooches Bookmarks Dies. To decorate this one, and as we have an adorable fur baby in our family called Yoshi, I thought I’d use the Chubby Chums dog image and the paw print for the background. The image is mounted on a scrap piece of embossed card stock. So quick to put together and now I’ll just need to make a second so the boys can have one each! I’m entering this in at the last minute for the PS Anything Goes Challenge for this week.

Hello! Hope everyone is enjoying the festive season. I’ve been so happy to have time with the family and away from work, and managed to do some re-organising of my craft space that has me all inspired. Today I had a play and decided to do a card for the current Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge:

I just love the arrows in the new Love-Struck set. I cut out a bunch using the coordinating Love Struck Icons dies a week or so ago and had them ready to go. They’re the perfect size for dressing up tags and so I thought I’d make a stamped tag the focus of this card. It’s adhered using removable adhesive so the recipient can keep it and use it as a bookmark. I used a dash-line heart from the Sweet Hearts set to create a subtle background on the lighter pink background card piece on the left. The “xoxoxo” greeting is also from the Sweet Hearts set and I stamped it on some notepaper card for the sentiment. Did you know Paper Smooches is having a sale? What better time to stock up on some new stamping goodies, right?!

And here are some other tags I made while doing this card that were super quick and easy. I’ve just started using Memento Luxe inks so wanted to try them out on some Kraft card stock. The colours stayed quite nice and rich and didn’t take too long to dry. Long enough that you could easily emboss with them though which is great! I found that gently tapping the stamp on the surface of the pad gets me the best results. They’re a nice alternative to dye inks on coloured card stock.
